v ep eyeopener for youngsters children from stouffville nursery school went out last week to see something that was once a common sight in this area sheep shearing this was possibly the first time the youngsters got afirst hand look at where their sweaters and socks came from the tour was conducted on the- farm of jim rae 7th cone north of the bloomington rd the children most of whom are city dwellers also got to see piglets and what seemed like thousands of kittens john montgomery- wilf bowes dazzled the nursery school each of students with his sheep shearing expertise wool to the youngsters got a souvenir piece of take home with them f i i piper don mctaggart led the procession down the 7th the children followed as did councillor merlyn baker at cone from the united church to the community centre left who officially opened the kuntry fare v tv w t53- lemonville the congregation of lemonville united church were i stunned sunday to learn that the kuntry fare j saturday had raised a total of 1900 for f the church the fair was an unqualified success it was a brainchild of mary ernstzen who is the church organist- she wanted to find a way to pay off the debt on the new church organ promptly at 11 am 5 after a prayer of dedication piper don mctaggart led the procession from the church down the 7th cone and up the lane to the community centre t councillor merlyn baker officially opened the fair and the old school bell rang signalling the event one of the oldest residents of the area mrs elmer wells received a corsage from mrs merlyn baker i went to school here and my grandchildren went to school here the 80 year old mrs wells said three hundred hamburgers were or- dered for the day- but they were all sold out a number of different activities were going on these included pony rides sale of home baking jams and preserves tea room snack bar with charcoal t broiled hamburgers and hot dogs there was also a fish pond and toy sale putside t the auction presided over by walter atkinson was a success with the donated articles selling quickly v mrs ernstzen who along with lois mcginn organized the fair was impressed by the spirit and how everybody just enjoyed it the co operation was un believable mrs elmer wells one of the oldest residents of lemonville was on hand for the fair and was given a corsage i went to khn h vm t school here and my grandchildren went to school here she said with her is mrs t if 4 r don bernard-
