find that the library is not providing the services and programs which you expect jyou must let your elected representative know of your desire for increased facilities only when the municipal council is made aware of the desire of community members for im- i proved library service will the per capita expenditures be increased and library service can only be improved if the library receives increased per capita support if you support the librarys efforts to improve facilities we encourage you to contact your municipal councillor whitchurchstouffville public library board in 1973 only 19 of 102 libraries in ontario serving populations over 5000 had lower per capita expenditures than stouffville the library has provided these statistics for you in an effort to explain our ability to provide quality library service to the whit churchstouffville community the whitchurchstouffville public library board and staff have worked ex tremely hard during the past year to improve library service the library moved to an- expanded facility in september 1974 at that time open hours were increased by 17 hours per week preschool programs were also expanded to 3 eight week sessions involving 75 children in each session art exhibits craft and school displays are a monthly feature at the library the book collection is being ex panded and the library card catalog is being revised to provide greater access to in- formation in the library both the board and staff are interested in further improving and expanding the librarys collection service and programs s however we must work within the budgetary restrictions set by municipal council- an examination of the per capita expenditures for the province shows that whitchurch- stouffville ranks wll below other municipalities without adequate funds the library cannot gordon ratcliff jim sanders carol mcdermett ann griffiths doug harris carol morin marion wells r sanderson editors note the above letter has been distributed to patrons of the library by the whitchurchstouffville library board young thieves being educated dear sir with our pockets being constantly drained by the high cost of living taxes etc it sure is mighty discouraging to find one is not getting true value for ones money with a large part of our tax dollar going toward the cost of educating our children it sometimes makes me wonder if we are getting short changed in enquiring about an episode that happened to a member of our family at stouffville district secondary school we have been told it is quite a common occurrence to have wallets money and other personal property taken from the lockers of fellow students it seems that a padlock on a locker doesnt mean anything as the doors of most can be opened with the lock never having been un done it surely must be possible to install lockers with doors that cant be opened without undoing the lock this seems like a very small matter to some but tothese kids who are the victims of our sick society it is also the nuisance of- replacing a drivers licence social insurance birth cer tificate etc as well as losing their money these kids of today are to be the adults of tomorrow is this something to look for ward to mrs lome morgason support coverage appreciated dear sir music mania is over for another year we wish to extend our thanks to the 2100 people who attended the show we hope that they en joyed the show as much as the cast enjoyed presenting it music mania has become a real com munity effort r and tradition this year there were 131 people directly involved in the show we feel this illustrates the kind of spirit co operation and talent which we are fortunate to have in stouffville on behalf of the cast there are many organizations and in dividuals which we would like
