reside in scarboro markham photo centre by howard minaker last week two dogs made the front page of the paper this was not for any act of heroism but because of their destructive binge in at tacking and maiming twentyfour swine so vicious was the mauling that their victims had to be destroyed the canine control officer suggested that the owners should be blamed and not the dogs the dog must be controlled lest his destructive nature take over and he becomes a killer rather than a gentle pet this incident por trays a greater truth it draws us a picture of events in the life of man we periodically hear the expression dog eat dog when referring to the competition of our society never have i known of a time when talk of liberty freedom and human rights was more prevalent in the minds of a number of people freedom means license free like a ship without a rudder like a car without brakes like one who leaps from a plane without a parachute like a human life without god in this life or any hope in the life hereafter we can keep our dogs our cars our ships our airplanes under control however who can satisfy and control our restless human desire who can still and control the turbulent tossing sea of a thousand problems who can chart a safe course for a restive spirit as it takes its flight into eternity yes who but its creator the eternal god heads campaign noted evangelist rev alf rees commences a weeklong crusade in the stouffville missionary church beginning sunday feb 10 and extending through feb 17 wellloved parkview resident passes stouffville susanna united church my fair ladies by sebastian about nails markham thev might not look like hair or feel like hair but to dermatologists nails are very much like hair and skin for that matter composed of keratin the stuff of skin and hair nails grow out of the body and are dependent on the body for nour ishment thus they often irelfect its general health nail ailments if your nails are less than beautiful it could mean a problem with your overall physical condition corrugated or furrowed nails for example are often the result of ar illness a major operation or a problem with the nail itself injury and disease can also cause nails to become thick and overgrown or to weaken and wither away while its up to you and your doctor to keep your health in order a good manicurist can put ailing nails into order nails can be retextured with buffing or abrasion they can be streng thened and lubri- c a t e d with conditioners and oils splits and cracks can be repaired and if need be brand new nails can be permanently attached right over your old ones nail care often enough however poor nails are the result of improper care soft nails or brittle nails could be the result of too much detergent too much water or excessive use of nail polish remover thats right polish removers arent really good for nails if you must repair your manicure its better to go oyer whats already there with another coat than to use polish remover better yet get yourself a really good manicure when polish is properly applied it lasts much much longer nails must be filed properly toward the center random filing back and forth will only weaken the nails and encourage them to break the shape of the nails is also important squared off nails are much stronger than nails that have been brought to a point and dont underestimate the importance of careful gentle cuticle removal did you know that carelessly trimmed cuticles actually make the nails susceptible to infection a good manicure while improper manicuring can actually harm your nails a good manicure can only help them when nails are properly buffed filed reinforced and conditioned they cant be anything but belter from under the dryer thirty
