teen pick of the week she has personality plus stouffville if there was a personality prize for the student graduate of 1974 at stouffville dist secondary school seventeen year old sharon todd would be a top contender sharons a favorite at sdss because she never pretends to be anything but herself shes the tribunes teen pick of the week sharon received her elementary education at hunter glen public school in scarboro moving with her parents mr and mrs leslie todd to a lovely home on tbe stouffville gormley road four years ago she has three brothers doug 15 ross 13 and bryan 8 sharon loves the country particularly that extra long lane that provides the necessary space to practice her driving she and brother doug were able to save up enough money in the summer to buy a second hand car sharon admits that living outside town does create certain problems but mom and dad are really great she says with a broad smile theyre always running us back an forth in and out of school sharons life is a whirl of excitement shes a member of the championship volleyball team a prefect secretary of the students council involved in track and field a member of the senior basketball team and ski club in the summer she was a lifeguard and swimming instructress at the stouffville pool she also worked as a waitress at rolling hills golf and country club sharon doesnt brag about her golf game despite the close prox imity to the course- my highest was a 50 on nine holes but once or twice i picked the ball up and threw it a little she admitted honestly what of the future sharons not sure right now shes considering a course in pharmacy at u of t or maybe physical education at tbe university of guelph however her main concern is completing grade 13 and learning to drive the voice of bethel events usher in return seventeen year old sharon todd is in her grade 13 year at stouffville dist secondary school shes very much involved in extra curricular activities including sports and student council following graduation she intends to go on to university jim thomas voice of bethel by howard minaker in the past few days we have seen some unusual happenings we have watched large and small nations buckle in their former policy determination they have been forced to take a stand and condemn israel they have permit ted the arab nations to dictate what they must say in order to obtain oil who could have imagined that this tiny nation could have created such a problem that the world would have been divided into two groups either for or against israel yes who but god planned the entire course of these events he had todays events pre written hundreds of years before they would hap pen by his command israel was scattered among the nations for nearly two thousand years by his declaration no nation was able to assimilate this people they always remained a separate entity at his word they have been regathered from well over 100 nations what a miracle jerusalem that has not known jewish rule since about 587 bc has reached this condition in our lifetime these events however precede a much greater event to the born again christian i refer to the catching away of the church of jesus christ the bible describes it in 1 thessalonians416and 17 thus for the lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel and the trump of god and the dead in christ shall rise first then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the ijord in the air and so shall we ever be with the iord i am told there are newspapers on this continent that have assembled what is known as the second coming print this print is larger than any that has been used heretofore it is reserved exclusively to declare to the world the story of this great event meet santa following the parade saturday children are invited to meet santa claus in his trailer home market and main street from 4 to 530 pm he will be there during the same hours dec 10 11 and 12 kinsmen need donations stouffville santa claus will be arriving in stouffville saturday at 2 pm that is the word from kinsmen club president jack pollard they will be hosting a parade to welcome the jolly old gentleman in a letter to local businessmen mr pollard detailed the cost of the parade for the past five years in 1968 the sum was a modest si 91 157 which grew to 253140 in 1972 we were thanks to your usually generous co operation able to meet these expenses mr pollard wrote this year expenses will be even higher and the kinsmen will be soliciting
