nov 19 in toronto weuesley hospital but in death as in life her courage lives on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her as a friend heather had been confined to bed from the age of three to seven with an illness called nephritis however until the age of 3 she lived a fairly normal life attend ing school taking music and enjoying sports si july 1s heather entered toronto sick childrens hospital after ur condition developed into a kidney disorder artificial dialysis was started and continued to november when she became the first patient on the kidney machine at weuesley in the inervening 7 years heather fought a brave fight for life she retained a cheerful outlook despite major surgery and many months in a hospital bed regardless of this she completed her high school education at thompson secondary in scarboro following graduation she enrolled at the university of toronto and lived in residence there it was just prior to the funeral service nov 21 in the victoria college chapel the bursar informed her father that heather had been awarded her honors degree in sociology rev j brecken- ridge the united church chaplain at weuesley hospital conducted the service he spoke fit tingly of heathers life her courage her determi nation that he said had inspired all others with whom she had come in contact left to mourn her passing are her parents two brothers scott and
