figure skating is more than a recreation but rather a future vocation a career she hopes to graduate as a fulltime instructress and teach other up and coming skaters the skills she has mastered marlene is the tribunes teen pick of the week marlene is an almost- native of stouffville she was 11 months old when her parents mr and mrs arnold boyd came here she resides on fairview avenue and has two brothers david and stephen both of stouffville and a twin- sister marilyn she is a student in grade 10 at stouffville dist secondary school for marlene skating knows no season in the winter she spends four nights a week at the rink here either in practice or assisting as a junior coach last summer she worked out regularly for a period of 4 weeks at the highlands arena in north york on saturday she was up before dawn to attend a coachs clinic in sutton being involved in such a heavy skating schedule leaves marlene little time for extra curricular activities at school however shes willing to make this sacrifice for the sport she loves so much but marlene does have other interests she enjoys camping water skiing snowmobiling and yes shes even tried her hand at icefishing marlene certain of success yorks 4h participants enjoyed successful year a a wall agricultural representative for york region the royal winter fair this week finishes up the season for 411 boys and girls in york as well as the show season for our many livestock exhibi tors 411 clubs went well this year with 179 4h exhibits shown at our fairs and 370 members completing the full program club shows at sutton markham and voodbridge were tops the 4h horse club show it woodbridgc made the best progress with- 19 members in the ring at once with their horses david snider and dan fieldhousc were important winners coming first in the senior and junior sections of the holstein club competi tion tim hcnshaw won the beef competition for all members the sutton club had awards presented last week with cathy comer winning the top award other winners were joey robinson terry winch susan traviss and jim lockic well over a 100 members will be guests this week at a royal york luncheon sponsored by the toronto kiwanis club ken dryden for mer goalkeeper for team canada and the montreal canadians will be the guest speaker members will visit the winter fair in the afternoon the biggest 4h show at
