ii the tribune thursday july 2 173 converting a house to a barn a problem uxbridge tup converting a house into a barn could be a problem particularly if the structure is not at least 450 feet back from a roadway as me a ranft of rr 4 uxbridge found out when told of township setback regulations at a council meeting monday mrs ranft recently purchased 200 poultry and this is the only reason im here tonight to find out if i can change the old house into a farm building for a poultry shelther and storing tools explained mr ranft you have four rooms in that house which means youd have one for chickens one for ducks one cor geese and that leaves one for turkeys chuckled reeve bob nsbitt following an enquiry by councillor george harvie mr nesbitt pointed out that the township setback regulation requires all farm buildings must be 450 feet back from a roadway and youre house is only about 30 or 40 feet perhaps you should think about having the house moved back but i wouldnt be too far of f in my guess that it would cost you about 2500 said the reeve the house isnt worth that much replied mr ranft the applicant told council theat some landowners on brock road had recently erected barns that were no more than 80 feet in from the road maybe they orgi- nally applied for a garage permit and later changed it into a barn without our knowledge suggested councillor don jackson further discussion on the matter varied councils interpretation of the setback bylaw mr ranft signed an agreement with the township that with the completion of his new- house the old structure would be demolished i strongly oppose allowing a house to be used for a barn because ait will only inbite trouble urged councillor fred lewis he ssid residents in his ward converted old houses for similar uses and later rented the same dwelling after deanimg them out its only certain types of people who would live in a house after that said councillor lewis following two motions council voted to adhere to the original agreement and refer the bylaw to planning for stedy as they maybe inconsistent as a result of recent buildup hahn shredders available at bill walls t morgan hall comrari ctrwnc notntt paper now once a week i am so determined that i have even moved my hot little typewriter from its hidey- holein the upstairs office it now reposes on jie kitchen cupboard the idea is or was to have it handy so i could type a few sentences here and there during the day whenever the mood struck but some problems have reared their ugly heads we have this marvelous uptodate kitchen all of the latest gadgets it is so modern it boasts only one electrical outlet to servi ce two rooms into this outlet- we plug the refrigerator the dock the radio the tv and now the typewriter the hydro warns you about octopus outlets well we have an outlet that turns our hydro man green if i am to type i must first unplug the tv this usually results in howls cant type while sesame street is on kids are watching cant type while elwood glovers on im watching cant type while the news is on or at various other times of the year hockey daddys watching that leaves about five minutes when the kids are in bed in the afternoon cant type then cause the ol typewriter makes so much noise it wakes the kids up have you ever tried to type with thirty fingers on the keyboard its bad enough with ten now i have run into the problem that i can no longer find the type writer its buried somewhere under a pile of dirty laundry old newspapers and i think one of the kids threw their all day sucker into the works so here we
