the three small libraries in the rural area whitevale claremont and brougham would be closed and members could gravitate to the central library which would be open every day rather than the present three or four hours a week all three libraries are too small to provide space for study or reading mrs mowbray said mrs mowbray noted that architect wm sac- coccio had given an estimate of 34000 for expenditure this year and possibly not until the middle of next year councillor for ward 1 vic rudik said that there was a necessity for a new fire hall in brougham and a 150000 works yard for the road department was the objective this year there would be a possibility of tearing the whole thing out while they are putting in new facilities mrs mcpherson was looking at the historical significance of the old municipal building and the fact that it was structurally sound she said when the council left it they let it go when they should have kept it in repair she said that members were quibbling about a 15000 expenditure and not thinking about a 130000 fire hall which she had never heard mentioned before while a library is urgently needed both reeve john williams and councillor ron chatten agreed that estimates could mushroom into something larger and chatten said be couldnt see spending more and more money on this old building councillor john kruger said that he thought the 5130coo mrs mcpherson mentioned for a fire hall was the type of structure that should be put in brougham and thought it good planning to envisage a tire hall and library facility combined councillor den kitchen a member of tne library board said there was something about the past that people want to have retained and that since a fire hall for brougham was not included in the five- year forecast that preliminary plans should be made at once mrs mcpherson asked what if the fire committee decided not to build a fire hall and noted that some councillors had wanted the old municipal building bulldozed for a long time that said mr kruger was a separate problem and they had to decide on the present problem adjustable shelving packaged brackets to make your own shelf designs 2 to a pack
