and has christ as its leader therefore strikes are not permitted for further information contact vour nearest bible and ask for first corinthians one i have looked through that advertisement many a time to see if it could be improved somvhere it was first published in the jerusalem tinies one thousand nine hundred and seventy years ago and it has been running on every major news media ever since today the response is less than it was at the beginning the most obvious flaw that i can detect is in that first part about fools if we could give prea chers pastors and missionaries some better title perhaps the response would be better wait a minute what am i thinking about they already have titles big ores loo you know what i mean master of thcolopy doctor of divinity and always reverend come to think of it that old advertisement has been changed already i wonder is it possible that the change was a mittaki- lets take another look at it fools wanted r christs sake are preachers fools it depends i suppose a lot depend on whit they preach the thing that makes a preacher a fool for christs sake is the cross read all about it in i cor 1 tts the preaching of the cross thai makes a man a fool a fool that is in ihe ev of the vvotfcl but the foolish thing of god is wiser ban men and the weak thing of god is stronger than men that cross and its victim turned the world up-side- down because it was wrongsideup and inside out before that we are still living in the after glow of that earthshaking movement so the old ad has been changed big deal what do we have now nothing sweet nothing huge churches that are as dead as ezekiels dry bones thats the remains of the crossdenying theology the wisdom of men is pathetically weak beside the foolishness of god the world needs now more fools mrs wm morris loved her church stouffville theres a vacancy jn the auditorium of st james presbyterian church one that will never be filled for more years than most members can remember the pew was occupied by mrs william morris she passed away april 22 and it seemed only fitting that the funeral service saturday should be held from the place she loved so much and served so well the pastor rev fred cromey was in charge assisted by rev wh fuller it was rev fuller who performed the wed ding ceremony for mr and mrs morris nearly 50 years ago born edith jarvis daughter of james and sufficiently to resume her normal busy schedule of activities on march 16 she was stricken again and died five weeks and three days later in york county hospital newmarket while every phase of life within the church occupied her enthusiasm she was most active in the band of willing helpers an organization that through the years raised many hundreds of dollars for property improvements she was also a member of the markham branch order of the eastern star mrs morris was a great lover of flowers and the floral tributes in the oneill funeral home were most beautiful surviving besides her bible hour now in its 44th year of radio broadcasting is about to adopt a new and shorter program format the change will take place may 3 when the program now broad casting to 36 stations across canada changes from one hour to 30 minutes according to the honourable ec manning director of the national back to the bible hour there were four reasons why the program format was changed i the hour long program frequently contacted with the time families had to leave for sunday school or church 2 by going to one half- hour the program could be aired on a greater number of stations 3 it was becoming increasingly difficult to obtain a full hour broad cast period at times satisfactory to listeners and 4 many families wrote that it was difficult to find a full hour when the family could listen together always available our skill and jfrowlecfge living in the past has one thing in its favor its cheaper sponsor sheets open now for walk of ages may 23 union villa volunteers needed for
