dagmar keeps increasing and while skimming down the slopes is fun its no more breath taking than the scenery from on top as this photo indicates peter harris by eleanor todd goodwood after a few years of tethargy the mens lodge seems to be bouncing back to life a- gain wouldnt it be great if theyd sponsor a street dance in goodwood this summer ten years ago the lol street dance was the social event of the year people came from miles around per haps if enough of us were to bring up the subject the next time we find our selves in conversation with an orangeman we might convince them to sponsor another this years master is don spencley walt todd is the deputy master lloyd capslick treasurer and ralph cooper chaplain the mens orange lodge is the oldest institution in goodwood older than both churches and only four years younger than our township council it received its charter in the year 1s54 and al though it has had its ups and downs it has never been forced to dissolve during world war i it boasted 130 members circa 1877 the lodge was meeting in its own build ing which was located on hwy j7 at the 4th con cession across the road and up a piece from ram- shorns hotel it has been host to two orange walks in its day the last one was in 1944 when walt todd was master mr walter davey remem bered the many i ol oyster suppers held in the ballroom of todds hotel during the ls90s mrs irene tindajs hat class was a success with 12 graduates most of the ladies modelled their hats in a show sponsored by the womens institute at uxbridge united ciiurch the goodwood recrea tion association held their second meeting to discuss the winter skating bus project and iron out any problems sixtysix children boarded the bus saturday almost double the number who rode to the arena the first week the mens orange lodge in goodwood has offered to sponsor the bus for the month of february there were 14 tables at the last euchre sponsored by the ladies orange lodge first prize winners were velma baston and walter hardy edith var- ey and and les morgason won second prize and dora geer and charlie jackson brought up the rear the lucky draws were won by walter hardy grace hockley and evelyn bryant mrs george hosie at the piano and mrs john barton with her piano accordian provided the special music at sundays service in the united church they played the old favourites when the roll
