jolly i know that but i cannot help thinking that this season is meant to promote a good oldfashioned spirit of thanksgiving in this christmas issue of the tribune i want to omit all the social ills the firey trials and the hopeless defeats i want to experience within my own soul the therapy of thanksgiving 8 first on the list of christmas gifts for which i i am thankful is my family you may not be lieve it but i am just a young impetuous irish man who felt called to the ministry that means that my family are also called to live the life in the manse a life that is different to say the least many times my wife could have voiced her regrets at marrying a man who is out almost every night at meetings and then works on sunday my children could have turn ed against me when i allowed the emotion of my work to dampen my devotion to them but they havent i have one of the most precious earthly possessions for which a man could wish a loving devoted family i am thankful to my human care also there has been en trusted a group of people known as a church the little white building just south of vivian road on highway 48 is the meeting place of a community of true believers these people have offered themselves for service in the com munity they have supported me in finances in prayer and in friendship i am thankful for the privilege of helping them in their spiritual lives among the various opportunities for public communication none has given me more satis faction than this weekly article in the tribune mr jim thomas has granted me this valuable space each week to write to you from my study for such a worthy editor and staff i offer my sincere thanks j numerous other objects of thankfulness are in my mind jiist now but one is supreme it is also universal or it should be it is thankful- 3 ness for the person of christmas jesus christ where can a person even begin to thank him j words wont do i know a single verse sums j up perfectly how i feel about the whole christ- j am chief i tim 115 i s late robert burnett senior resident dies at 95 stouffville stouffville lost a well- known longtime resident dec 17 in the passing of robert h burnett at the age of 95 years born near bloomington the son of daniel and mary burnett he farmed in the community most of his life before moving to town in 1940 3 i 8 i school skate stouffville many students of stouffville dist secondary school enjoyed an afternoon or skating at the arena fri day as a start to the christmas vacation period robert burnett mr burnett loved hors es and trained many colts he used his team to haul materials to the site of the bloomington christian church where he attended until taking up residence in stouffville his mem bership was then changed to the christian church here and the service fri day was conducted by rev c e bass from the oneill funeral home in terment is in the stouff ville cemetery mrs burnett the form er sarah hall passed away in 1966 a brother herbert and a sister lu- ella mrs john dough erty are also deceased one sister clara mrs austin wagg lives on main street mr burnett at one time owned considerable real estate in stouffville as many as ten homes all have and susan shaver of claremont and susan hall west hill they were attrac tive in formal length empire style gowns the bodices were deep bur gundy velevet trimmed with mauve lace and the skirt of mauve
