nine year old seven schell connected for one of his teams five hits jas thomas lions squirts win league championship stouffville the stouffville lions squirt team enjoys winning games the hard way theyve been doing it all season it may make tha vic tory a little sweeter for the players but it sure is tough on the coach and spectators on monday they edg ed markham 54 to sweep the series and take the title but they didnt score five runs in the first inning that would be too easy instead they spotted markham a 41 sssses lead and then bounced back with 1 in the 4th and 3 in the 5th the contest was a real thriller and deve loped into a torrid pit chers battle between the visitors pat ocalla- ghan and stouffvilles howie jones jones was belted hard in the 4th yielding five hits and four runs for six of the other innings however he looked great retiring the side in order in the second and third ocallaghan hurled well enough to win most games three walks in the 5th hurt him as each came on to score it was pitcher jones who wielded the biggest bat he socked a homer in the 4th and a single in the 5thdougfeasby david lang and steve schell each connected for one all singles charlie ringwood stouffvilles warriors in the interme diate b division of the oha coach bob hassard lost little time in putting the twentyone hopefuls to work as the reds chal lenged the whiles in a scrimmage which remind ed many all too clearly of the summer excesses in order to concentrate exclusively as a player don haynes will have no coaching responsibilities this season if the dual role reduced his effective ness last year it went un noticed the clippers most con sistent marksman art rennick is still working out with the orillia entry in the senior oha while bob tripp a sturdy rear guard has returned in favor of a berth on the local squad of the new faces ray winterstein a former to ronto marlboro looked in good preseason shape as he took his position on the left wing dave win- nitoy
