the council of the corporation of the township of whit church enacts as follows area restricted 11 the provisions of this bylaw shall apply to all of the lands within the township of whitchurch definitions for the purpose of this bylaw the follow ing phrase shall have this meaning 21 grave pit shall mean a pit or quarry from which gravel stone sand earth fill or other material has been is or is proposed to be removed for building or road construction or similar purposes and shall include land in the township of whitchurch whether contiguous to such pft or quarry on which said materials arc washed sorted screened crushed stored or otherwise processed general provisions 31 the making or establishment of gravel pits by any person in the township is hereby prohibited administration 11 any person convicted of a breach of any of the provisions ot this bylaw shall forfeit and pay at the discretion of the convicting judge a penalty not exceeding the sum of three hundred dollars 300 for each such oftence exclusive of costs a2 this bylaw shall take eftect from the date of passage by council and shall come into force upon the approval of the ontario muni cipal board enacted and passed short holiday mr and mrs broom- field old neighbors from her previous home in tor onto visited a few days with mrs elsie winn last week mrs bessie mcguckin was in goodwood on sun day visiting her son bill and daughterinlaw joyce mr and mrs norm el- son daughter pat and her friend maurice lacombe motored to alexander ont the home of mau rices parents on satur day july 12 and then spent several days sight seeing in the province of quebec they included a visit with relatives at smiths falls norm and dot returned home early when the heat wave made travelling uncomfortable the families of mr el- don yake mr percy yake and mr wellington yake attended the yake reun ion at stouffville park on saturday july 19 rela tives came from as far away as new york state and maryland it was a large reunion with ap proximately 185 yake de- cendants attending everyone had a good time at the goodwood baptist sunday school picnic last sunday pro bably the highlight of the day came in a contest where the ladies had to throw a ball and strike a small bell suspended on a string stretched be tween two trees the first lady to hit the bell had the privilege of throwing a pail of water on the sunday school supt mr gord jones he of course was not aware of the rules mrs kathleen may won the game but mr jones discovered the plot at the last minute and out ran her goodwood united church is planning to hold a
