been provided regarding the science technology and trades branch as well as the business and commerce branch of the stouff- ville district secondary school this week the arts and science branch will be examined the fouryear arts and science program will be offered in grades 10 and 11 in september next year the program will be offered in grades 10 11 and 12 and pos sibly in grade 9 the purpose of this program is to provide students with a broad general academic back ground before obtaining specific employment skills students may take traditional subjects such as english mathematics science history and geography as well as others such as art mu sic and theatre arts many graduates of the fouryear arts and science program from other schools choose to attend community col leges courses at seneca which might interest graduates of this pro gram include those of library technician ed ucation technician early childhood educa tion social welfare principles of law en forcement and crime detection municipal ad ministration prosthetics technician fa shion arts fashion merchandising aircraft pilot training as well as various business and technical courses graduates of this pro gram from other schools who have chosen to seek work rather than fur ther education have found employment with financial institutons such as banks trust companies loan and ac ceptance companies in surance companies as well as retailers such as eatons simpsons woolworths dominion stores a p stores and loblaws others have found employment with the cnr and cpr air lines bell tele phone police services armed services as well as government and pub lic services the fiveyear arts and science program is the traditional academic course students select ing this program or either of the other branches of the fiveyear 19 o o m fifteen year old lynn gresham grade 10 stu dent at stouffvllle dlst secondary school is tak ing the music course a traditional subject in the four- and fiveyear artsana science program istaff photo program shouldbe par ticularly interested in academic achievement and must be willing to undertake the hours of study needed for suc cess in this course stu dents of the fiveyear arts and science pro gram may concentrate on languages if they so desire or they may se lect options such as mu se art and home eco nomics graduates from grade 12 of this program the fiveyear business and commerce program and the fiveyear science technology and trades program will receive a secondary school grad uation diploma and may proceed to a common grade 13 and university as well as teachers would be completed by a deadline date of aug ust 1 deputyreeve robert nesbitt recommended a bond of 1000 but mr ig lar contended that this was too high council agreed to inform the applicant of their
