riders and even a brougham or bust covered wagon whose tiny occupants slum bered on the long journey from brougham park to pickering township muse um sent history in action days on sept 14 and 15 off to a jolly start in radi ant late summer weather the famous claremont band in existence since the beginning of this cen tury led the parade the names of the dignified men who play their well- terrible penalty of be ing able to speak the funny little mans name the hiawatha spinners colorful in scandinavian dress spun beautiful yarns while crowds watched them getting the impres sion they were right from grimm wheels whirring fluffy wools scattered about them steadily spin ning to help the poor little girl marry the prince the princess could have been sevenyearold judith scott gravely but master fully spinning not far from her mother spinner mrs inger scott from the black forest organizer of the spin ning group from oshawa mrs esther bryant dan ish said that a few oshawa ladies no one is to blame but the people themselves if every family on our concession road had attended church with any regularity it would have been necessary to enlarge it rather than close it the same probably holds true on the 9th con cession of markham but no some went to one denomination some to an other and some didnt go at all pretty soon the minister was practically talking to himself i now stouffville that have impressed me since moving to the area just over one year ago i believe the civic square warranted the praise con tained in a recent letter although i still have res ervations about vehicular traffic through it what prompts me to write concerns the opera tion of the swimming and wading pool and the won derful group of girls who provided lessons to the little children i have apply to all of the lands within the township of whitchurch definitions for the purposes of this bylaw the following words and phrases shall have these meanings 21 kennel shall mean any building or structure or part thereof or place used for keeping dogs where four or more dogs or other animals are kept for breeding boarding treatment sale or for any other purpose 22 other animals shall mean any animals other than a dog which is kept as a household pet but does not mean animals commonly known as livestock general provisions 31 no person shall use any land building or struc ture for the purpose of establishing owning operat ing or controlling a kennel administration 41 any person convicted of a breach of any of the provisions of this bylaw shall forfeit and pay at the discretion of the convicting magistrate a penalty not exceeding the sum of one hundred dollars 100 for each such offence exclusive of costs 42 this bylaw shall take effect horn the date of passage by council and johnson secretary of overseas missions of the presbyterian church- of canada dr daniel hill is a na tive of missouri after studies in the usa and norway he entered the university of toronto and received his ma and later his phd in sociology for his thesis on the negro population in toronto he has been the director of the ontario human rights commission since 1962 to all owners of property in
