country doc tor he was father and friend to all wherever sickness called him and he had to make a call when our hearts were sad and weary the angel of death had called our way kind words from this country doc tor brought comfort though dark was the day he may not have had all the treas ures this world has given to man but he had what we most cherish the kind word with a clasp of the hand sleep residents the sad news of douglas pat hoods sudden passing was followed by the tragic death of nancy and har vey browns small son glen in a farm accident later that afternoon jim miller met with an acci dent which could have been fatal but thanks to prompt action by a neigh bor- the markham town ship police and doctors at branson hospital he is now well on the way to re covery douglas e hood buttonvilie lost one of its best loved friends with the death of douglas e hood pat to his friends on sunday may 5 mr hood lived most of his life on the farm at but tonvilie which is now the buttonvilie airport and golf course the family moved to markham just a year ago after the farm home was sold mr hood served on the browns corner united church for many years in february he celebrated his 80th birthday and more than 40 years as a member of the bass section of the choir he had also been a member of markham un ion masonic lodge for over 40 years and was formerly an ardent curler on tuesday evening a masonic service was held at the dixon funeral home markham on wednesday after noon rev christopher dugan conducted a service at browns corners united church when the sanctu ary was filled with friends and relatives and a very long cortege proceeded to the methodist cemetery on the 5th concession where the burial took place mr hoods nephews act- ed as pallbearers and old friends were honorary pallbearers dr george kelly newton burr char les hooper h r paterson aubrey stephenson and john rodick surviving mr hood are his wife the former ger trude brown and three daughters was a dollar a year man at ottawa from 194146 and became deputy chairman of the wartime prices and trade board he was awarded the cbe for his services business background wallace mccutcheon has had a successful professional and business career he has been a practising lawyer and an associate of the society of actuaries he was assistant to the president of national life insurance company of canada
