cadleux studio mr and mrs floyd fairies began honeymoon with cutter ride stouffville on feb 12 1918 mr and mrs floyd fairies left the parsonage at lemonville following their marriage performed by rev horace payne they travelled by horse and cutter to schom- berg junction took the trolley to toronto and the train to guelph that was fifty years ago on sunday this well- known and highly respect ed couple was honored on the occasion of their gold en wedding anniversary neighbors friends and relatives gathered at the home of their daughter norma mrs gerald bril- linger for a very pleasant reunion both afternoon and evening they have a second daughter betty and eight grandchildren a son leland a member of the rafvas killed on active duty in burma mr fairies has two brothers watson of stouffville eldon at gor- rie and two sisters mrs reta hassard of stouff ville and mrs russell jor- don of springfield illi nois mrs fairies has three brothers stanley of detroit orville in stouff ville floyd of toronto and one sister mrs velma macdonald also of tor- mrs john bond longtime gormley resident gormley the gor mley community lost an other of its longtime resi dents feb 6 when mrs john bond passed away in the willows nursing home aurora at the age of 83 born in markham mrs bond had a heritage dat ing back to the first white settlers in scarboro david and mary thompson she was their great great granddaughter she is survived by 28 grandchildren and one great great grandchild still living are four sons alex toronto gordon newmarket ivan sund- ridge wallace of rich mond hill and three dau ghters hazel mrs cecil brown collingwood jean mrs harold doner gormley and pearl mrs jack oconnell of erin- dale mrs bond was a mem ber of the gormley united missionary church where the martin was born at mount albert the daughter of joseph martin and josephine smalley while still very young her parents moved to lemon ville and she attended school there what was the winter like back in 1918 it was one of the worst for snow recalled mr fairies for one entire week not a single train travelled the line between toronto and stouffville on their wed ding day it was quite mild and foggy ifor two years following their marriage they lived on the home farm at bloomington then moved to their present residence on the uxbridge whit church townline through the years both mr and mrs fairies have been active members of the stouffville united church and still attend service there the kitchen of their cozy farm home showed visible signs of the many friendships built up over the years in the form of dozens of beautiful anni versary cards some were from a distance but most from the immediate area where they have lived all their married life yes friends are wonderful agreed mrs fairies watt a farmer for most of his life but now retired was born in novar ontario in 1896 his wife annie is a native of new castle england and came to canada as a very young girl they met when still in their teen years and were married at novar where they continued to reside for a time later they lived at cookstown and then in scarboro they purchased a piece of property at the lake one year ago the couple is extremely proud of their family that includes two daughters ramona and wilma mrs david tremblay of stouf fville and three fine grand children rosemary david and maureen they were the recipi ents of dozens of beauti ful cards as well as mes sages of congratulations from premier john ro- barts bishop wilkinson the reeve of the township of whitchurch and the vil lage of stouffville gracing
