were too highly priced have dis covered they bought a goldmine michael fortin and his attractive wife donna were married one and a half years ago they began searching for a home in toronto but gave up when it was apparent city hom es were too much for their pocket book they decided to search in the country for proper ty up to twenty or thir ty miles from metro when they saw the house in vi vian they immediately foresaw its possibilities michael and i have tre mendous imaginations and though the house was old there was a good vegetable garden a paddock for hor ses an old barn and 9000 scotch pines in the twenty acres which went with the house both mike and i are skiddoo enthusiasts and i love horses so we decided there were defi nite possibilities to using the grounds for these pur poses said donna but the couple had no idea what to do with the scotch pines then two years ago friends asked if may your christmas be filled with the warmth of good cheer good fellowship ed bill penner larry brian sanders sales service stouffville they could buy a tree for christmas they wanted to chop down their own it turned out to be such fun they asked the fortins if they could bring more friends- we decided to put an ad in the paper come and chop down your own christmas tree donna said unexpected results that was two years ago the newspaper ad brought results which sur passed all expectations to keep up the demand they had to enlist extra help this year and included skiddoo rides and free coffees as an extra to date there are 6000 trees left the fortins say that next year will probab ly be the last for selling trees they have made up their minds not to replant we hope to renovate the house michael wants to tear down the old barn and erect a small club house and swimming pool then we want to start a private skiddoo club and possibly keep a stable for boarding horses said donna the enterprising fort- ins are a working couple with michael commuting to toronto where he
