in the passing of mr wesley mcdowell church street north mr mcdo well passed away at his home following an illness of three weeks he was 82 mr mcdowell was born in st catharines the son of tilman mcdowell and annie fretz in 1908 he was married to olive pen ny who survives along with two sons clarence of markham robert of hjxbridge and one daugh ter florence mrs ed fennell of timmins there are ten granchild- ren two brothers edwin and allen predeceased him before moving to stouil- ville mr mcdowell resid ed at cone 7 and cone 10 markham township he was a member of the stouffville united missio nary church rev arthur walsh con ducted the funeral service friday from the united missionary church stouffville assisted by rev grant sioss and rev emmerson mcdowell a nephew of the deceased goodwood on wed nesday october 18 a group of 30 ratepayers from the township of ux- bridge assembled in the home of mr s d walder cone 4 uxbridge with a view to forming a rate payers association this move was prompted by the need for an organized group to represent town ship of uxbridge rate payers with the many problems within the town ship which they feel are not being adequately at tended to or in some cases completely over looked by township coun cil with unanimous appro val it was agreed that such a group be formed and subject to investiga tion and approval be known as the township of uxbridge ratepayers association a provisional steering committee was elected to hold office for a six month period follow ing which elections would be held at twelve monthly periods when it is hoped a more cross section of the population will be represented those elect ed were s d walder president r l adkin secretary treasurer and l hawkridge k barrie a j bailey executive committee members interested persons were present from an area be tween concessions two and five including the village of goodwood a further meeting has been arranged for wednesday november 1st however the location of this meet ing has yet to be arranged as a problem exists in re gard to the number of people it is expected will attend it is known that another group of interest ed ratepayers were pre sent at the township council meeting on octo ber 10th and it is hoped these as well as any other interested residents will contact either ron adkin at 8523574 or scott order to discuss mutual walder at 8526456 in interests the immediate prob lems confronting the steer ing committee are the drawing up of a constition membership fees which will be purely nominal obtaining a complete set of existing bylaws and summarization of various complaints known at this time it was noted that there is to be one further town- ship council meeting no- a girl was asking her friend about her new boy friend what does he
