water skiing show presented re cently at expo eldons specialty is skiing bare foot both frontwards and backwards it was ladies night saturday evening oct 21 when the wives of the members of brougham union lodge af am no 269 were entertained at a dinner and dance in the legion hall they were honored by the pres ence of the district dep uty of toronto no 4 right worshipful brother ross roberts and the tiisuict secretary worshipful brother snider and their wives worshipful master brother bruce lehman immediate past master worshipful brother frank hollingshead and director of ceremonies worshipful brother jack lehman the toast to the ladies was given by brother earle cook and was re sponded to by the wor shipful masters wife mrs joan lehman ap proximately 175 attended from local areas with many coming from toron to the excellent dinner was catered by the ladies of the claremont legion to raise money to buy jackets those members of claremont juvenile girls softball team who were able to take part held a car wash behind the sarco plant from 9 am to 1 pm saturday then the resourceful young ladies moved on to the sale which was being held by mr carl devitt and sold donuts and coffee to the large crowd attending the sale taking part in the money raising project were faye norton brenda macgregor kathy mac- gregor heather carruth- ers blanche benson lynn pollard and dale devitt accompanied by their coach mrs george mc- kenzie on thursday 26 senior students class of 1968 of the school of nursing on tario hospital whitby visited claremont nursing home on rr3 to study the results of the program for special care which the home has been carrying out for the past three years they were received by mrs hilge after which they inspected the facili ties of the home and ob served the staff at work later over coffee a dis cussion was held and mrs hilge explained to the nurses the methods used in the care of the patients assisting mrs hilge those on duty during the visit sunday for a visit with her broth er mr forrest pugh who has been confined to the hospital for the past two weeks too rigid control over farm lot sales pickering the minister of municipal affairs will be petitioned to eliminate the 10acre lot exception from the subdivision control provi sions of the planning act councillor harvey spang opposed this reso lution so violently that reeve c w laycox refer red to the procedural bylaw sharply rapped his gavel and permitted the councillor to spcuk no more on the subject rigid control mr spang was not av erse to the 10acro lot el imination in fact he was in favor of a 25acre lot but he resented the rigid controls by the committee of adjustment on people who wished to divide their farms claiming hardship on those who could not do what they liked with their own property councillor norm wal ler who also opposed the motion said he could not go along with holding down to a 25acre limit it should be more and stated that he disapprov ed 5 per cent going to park lands the resolution petition ed the minister to elimin ate the 10acre lot excep tion thereby allowing the committee of adjustment the same powers in deal ing with land separations of over ten acres as they now have on land separa tions of under 10 acres more problems planning director john falkner said the township was carved into 10acre holdings which caused some problems now and would continually cause more problems applica tions are permitted to build an accessory house which does not help asess- ment one 10acre parcel he said was landlocked mr spang declared he had not been
