merlyn baker carries york north banner for ndp stouffville merlyn baker new democratic party candidate in york north feels fully qualified to deal with problems as faced by the farmers in his riding hes been a farmer all his life born 52 years ago the son of morgan baker and gertrude clubine he con tinues to reside in the same home once occupied by his parents his father a former whitchurch township reeve now lives near king city the baker family name is wellknown and highly respected throughout the whole of the county merlyn baker received his public school education at bloomington and lemon- yillc he later attended the stouffville continuation school the depression cr hon donald c mac- too vividly recalled by mr baker those were the days when a fellow felt rich if he had an extra york county federation of agriculture he spent a great deal of time on the now defunct fame project and it was during personal contacts with farmers in the area that he became aware of their problems like his father although his father was a liberal mcrlyn baker has had close connections with politics down through the years there are impor tant issues at stake today and reforms are needed the ndp party is i be lieve the party to carry out those reforms mr baker admits that he holds high regard for the party lead- donald aid these are the issues on which he is currently con ducting his campaign
