april 28 1875 in the vil lage of altona and here he spent his life his education was attained at the village schoolhousc and he can recall two of the teachers who were on the a staff at the time a mr stark and mr forfar i had just an average educa tion said mr rcesor one thing i really loved was sports at school we found out a little bit about wil liam rccsors sporting activities and might have called him senior sporting citi7cn mr rcesor loved the game whether it was football baseball hoc key curling or lawn bowling he has participated in them all he can recall when he was at school and later as a young man playing on teams for altona against others from villages in the township at the age of 50 he could be found on the pond playing hockey farming was his life william rcesor has been a farmer most of his life in the early days of his youth he would help his father elias rcesor on the home farm and later when he married ethel millard of vglasgow he bought his own farm in mongolia the reesors moved to glasgow to his fatherinlaws farm where they farmed for a number of years later in life mr rcesor purchased a farm from mr monkhouse in altona raising clyde sdale horses and registered shropshire sheep he moved to stouffville in 1953 the reesors had three children kate mrs waller carter deceased evelyn mrs fred mcnair and millard who now owns the rcesor farm at altona warden of county perhaps william reesor will be known best for the 5 years he spent as reeve of pickering township where he worked hard to make the township a better place to live in and for the hon our he received when he was made warden of ontario county he spent many years as a member of the council he was always an active member of the altona united missionary church and each sunday can still be seen at tending the evening service mr rce sor also served 25 years as treasurer of the altona school board many hunting trophies william rcesor has many hunting trophies signs of what a great marks man he was a few years ago nothing pleased him more than to go on a hunt ing trip with a few of his friends many of them will tell you how great he was with a rifle deer moose bear he has the first bear he shot we were up north and were out in the bush when one of the dogs flushed out a big black bear it ran right past me i took aim and wham down it went the bear was quite a trophy 200 lbs and when the hunting parly returned to stouffville the head was displayed in ratcliffs store for everyone to sec mr reesor still has to this day the bear skin he has had to to give up hunting now but the last time he was out at the age of 84 he shot a deer with his first shot william reesor now resides in stouff ville in the house he bought many years ago mrs rcesor passed away a few years ago i have had a good life he said farming is a good life i am just sorry to see the younger genera tion are not staying on the farms still perhaps thats what you get for getting a good education the
