most highly respected residents passed away suddenly on monday walter c bayles of brougham died at his home following a heart attack he was 78 mr bayles was born in whitby township the son of thomas william bayles and margaret ann smith at an early age he moved with his parents to the 5th concession of pickering and later to concession 7 the location of the extend ed claremont conservation area he attended school at both audley and green wood prior to his marriage he took up residence on the brock road south of brougham and lived there up until the time of his sudden death mr and mrs bayles marked their 54th wedding anniversary this month the deceased had been an active member of st johns united church at brougham and served as a steward in the congrega tion for many years surviving bible and could quote and discuss long passages at will he was possessed of a spark ling humor and a fine and discerning mind and his presence will be sorely missed by loved ones and friends alike he
