sally thomas walks down the main street of stouffville all eyes turn it matters not if shes wearing a casual blouse snd blue jeans on a sunday afternoon or a party dress on saturday night she automatically attracts attention why sallys main attribute is her neatness everything she wears she wears well stouffville or even canada cannot take pride in claiming this pert 5 2 brunette as a native shes from narberth pembrokshire wales a distinctive accent gives her away sally and her family that includes two brothers and two sisters left their homeland aboard the empress of england four years ago they resided for a time in montreal then came to stouffville in 1965 david 20 is in the royal canadian navy handy 11 wendy 9 and barry 6 are all pupils in orchard park school sally is a fulltime clerk in the village shop main street west sails admits that to begin a new life in a new land was quite an experience i get a litle homesick sometimes and would like to return but not to stay i think canada is a beautiful country school adjustment difficult sally attended high school in stouffville for one year but found it difficult to adjust here a student is expected to work more on his own i wasnt used to that i found it hard she enjoys her job at the village shop operated by mrs lloyd weldon many of the girls that come in are my own age i like waiting on them she admits that new stock and new styles can sometimes prove temp ting her own wardrobe is an excellent advertisement for her place of employ ment since she models her clothes well sally has no steady boyfriend but a host of good friends she enjoys play ing tennis bowling and riding horseback the weldon family have several rid ing horses on their home property northeast of town in wales cricket and soccer are two of the most popular spectator sports comparable to hockey in canada and baseball in the united states how do teenagers compare sally feels that there is very little difference if anything a teen girl in canada enjoys a little more freedom than in wales 1 dont think that parents here are quite as strict she said sallys desire is to some day return to narberth pembrokshire wales when she saves up sufficient funds to make the trip we can only hope that she makes it a twoway ticket one to go and one to come back marlene malloy june bride in united church ceremony the tribune tbasdjy my 20 1967
