education instruc tors j h rehill and mr moran of the stouffville district high school staff attended a coachs clinic at windsor for three days some of the top names in sport were in attendan ce to address the gather ing it was the first time that stouffville had been represented both mr re- hill and mr moran were impressed with the inst ruction provided stouffville orch ard park st marks and lemonville schools swept the championship field saturday in the first inter- area track meet ever held here athletes from thirteen senior schools had been invited to participate and competition in some divi sions was extremely keen entries from orchard park shared in six of the trophy presentations including a tie in the class for junior girls lemonville students did well with two winners and st marks had one a unique feature in the handing out of awards was the presentation of the stouffville public school board trophy by trustee mrs rose barry it went to her 12 year old daughter sharon the intermediate champion the only tie occurred in the junior division between kim has sard of orchard park and joanne dodge of lemon ville they received the walter atkinson trophy melvin baker of the whitchurch township area board presented their tro phy to junior boys cham pion mark chamberlain 10 of st marks stouff ville intermediate boys winner was bill hassard 12 of orchard park he received the stouffville centennial committee tro phy from the chairman lome boadway frances smith 14 of lemonville won the senior a girls championship and received the maclean furniture award from mr bruce maclean keith lied- tke 14 of orchard park led the senior a boys and received the sanders ba service trophy from bill sanders jr in the senior b class it was jackie wightman 15 of orchard park who accepted the stouffville tribune trophy from the editor jim tho mas the stouffville bak ery trophy was presented to senior b boys cham pion george ham 16 of orchard park by mr bob stover the competition sched uled for completion june 17 had to be carried on into the morning of june 24 due to unfavourable weather conditions on the first day in spite of some minor problems on an initial venture of such magnitude the organizers were com mended for their work in setting up the meet and seeing it through to a suc cessful finish another city golf club here buttonville mar kham township council has approved of the pro posal of york downs golf and country club to rees tablish their 27hole golf course on the 420acre glenburn farms ltd at unionville york downs club is one of the oldest in the city located at the corner of bathurst and shephard avenue the club has been offered over five million dollars for its toronto property and has an op tion on the unionville farm for 950000 the soft- ball fixture here monday night greenwood scored twice to open the game three times in the third and three again the fourth they added singles in the fifth and sixth altona made their big push in the fourth innings when arthur lee al young geo parish john half and gerry dean each crossed the plate to ac count for five of the teams six runs young had scored the one count er in the third batting
