ellen sanders is a girl of many talents and she makes good use of each and every one this fifteen year old commercial class student with a sparkling smile and pleasing personality can sew paint write poetry and prose and engage in almost every kind of athletic endeavor going with only one year of high school behind her she has already taken part in as many activities as some senior students on completion of her grade 12 she would like to take a course in dress design or advance further into the writ ing field in both she shows great promise dorothy is the daughter of mr and mrs william c sanders albert street south in stouffville she has two brothers edwin of stouffville bill cf ballan- traetwo sisters linda mrs joe herold of stouffville and barbara mrs lewis bates of toronto six nephews barry dougie and blair sanders and mark tony and john paul herold last but far from least is her pet golden cocker spaniel flossie although dorothy has a five year edge the two have literally grown up together makes own clothes dorothy makes many of her own clothes and was able to gain further knowledge along this line by attending night school classes every tuesday she feels that home economics should be included as part of the grade 9 commer cial course since the two have much in common for a girl as for style trends dorothy predicts that designs will go back to the 1940s history repeats itself she said she suggested that the military look was now on the way out but would likely last for the summer dorothy is presently completing an oil painting of the home of mrs rita hassard directly across the road she s doing it from her upstairs bedroom window i hope she doesnt think im spying on her she laughed some of her poems border on the professional during her first school year she was the class representative on the stud ent council a member of the glee club and secretary of the drama club she loves sports and would like to play hockey if there was a girls team in town her the stouffville district high school year book must surely agree that it is one of the best projects of its kind to be completed here much of the credit for its success must go to memb ers of the year book staff in particular the editor linda sargent her assist ants included jane harrop dianne hammerston ruth parsons doreen seabrook warren saunders craig schcll ian marlatt rick roderman garfield smith and two staff advisors mrs blake andmr jones through the activity card system implemented by the students council the cost per copy to stud ents was reduced from 600 to 200 the wine and white is considered comparable to year books of schools many times lar ger than stouffville in addition to items of interest about high school activities the book con tains more than 700 in ad- vetising including a full- page ad and photograph from the town council the wine and while of 67 marks the end of a summary of events at sd- hs as a little school stu- dents returning to classes in september
