with this committee plans to feature a short biography of a lady or gentle man each week who has attained this milestone it would seem fitting to select one of stouffvilles best known and most highly respected residents to begin such a centennial series he is mr e a button 90 of obrien avenue ernest alanson button was born august 17 1876at concession 9 mark- ham township on the property best known as the clifford king farm his par ents were major john r button and alma jones he attended the old ss no tit school later his parents moved to ring wood and mr button can recall meeting the train each morning in stouffville to attend high school in markham he then returned on the passenger train in the evening it was not unusual during the midwinter months for the rail line to be blocked with snow
