recent trip to india all invited and welcome mrs cordelia paxlon longtime and highly respected resident at mussel- mans lake celebrated her 01st birthday april 15th staff photo writing her memoirs mrs cordelia paxton longtime lake resident f mussulmans lake on april 15 mrs john c paxton one of mussel- mans lakes oldest resi dents celebrated her 91st birthday many cards gifts and personal visits were warmly welcomed throughout her entire birthday week mrs paxton is still very active and she lives by her self comfortably in her lakeside home on the prop erty purchased 48 years ago by her late husband john c paxlon who was well known for flour and feed mills in the uxbridgc and siloam areas she is keenly interested in poli tics and very enthusiastic about the various centen nial projects planned mrs paxton was born mcrab cordelia lloyd daughter of amos lloyd and elizabeth davis in king township april 15 1876 her great grand father lloyd came original ly from wales and was a deputy under william pcnn to pennsylvania her own grandfather william lloyd a staunch quaker immigrated to canada from pennsylvania in 1809 and took up residence on the 4th concession of king township in york county where the lloyd family was instrumental in the work of the friends church in that district during the rebellions of 1837 in upper canada william lloyd mrs pax- tons grandfather was sympathetic to the cause of reform and worked itn- dcr the leadership of wil liam lyon mackenzie to defeat the family compact at york the actual musket that was used by him at that time is still in possession of the lloyd family this political con nection has been held tightly all through the years as mackenzie king too was a personal friend of mrs paxton and her father amos lloyd mrs paxton is very proud of her lloyd heri tage and has the true pa triotic spirit of a canadian pioneer even to this day as a personal centennial project she has spent the winter writing the me moirs of ninetyone years one interesting event she records is her recollection of a big liberal picnic in aurora in 1894 at which sir wilfrid lauricr then canadas prime minister was the guest speaker she attributes her
