for retarded children has been proposed for a ten acre lot on ninth line south in stoufl villc the building to cost an estimated s750000 would be erected according to plans as provided by the ontario department of health the project that meets with zoning requirements in the area was approved by planning board march 9 and will now be discussed before council barbershop harmony stouffville ed ward lintner passed away on saturday evening mar 11 after attending the fu neral for his son harry lintncr that afternoon both were lifelong resi dents here harold harry lintncr 394 glad park avenue died on thursday march 9 he was born here and received his schooling in stouflvillc deceased had fceen a car salesman for many years and had been employed in markham most recently he was a veteran of world war ii and an active member of the stouflvillc legion besides his wife the former mary lunau mr lintncr is survived by three daughters ann mrs peter mcncvan and margaret mrs fred abra ham cameron and sha ron at home there is one son paul also at home the funeral on satur day afternoon was con ducted by the padre of the stouftville legion rev george davison the floral tributes were magnificent and attested to the popu larity of this young man and the high esteem in which he was held by his military comrades all the pallbearers were fellow veterans william malloy harry lintner walter smith fred castle don lehman william sanders and jack sanders interment was made in the stouftville cemetery edward lintner 80 edward joseph lintncr one of this towns last blacksmiths passed away at the home of his son ted at dunbarton on sat urday night mr lintncr who was in his 80th year had been in declining health for some time more than fifty years ago he had done some smithy work in markham but had spent practically a life time in stouftville of late ifhln week years he had been living with his daughter mrs jack hass at elmira deceased was identified with the baptist church when this denomination occupied a building just west of summitvicw school he was an active church worker and sun day school superintendent for a number of years mr lintner had also been a member of the oddfellows lodge for over 25 years mrs lintner the for mer ruth burkholder pre deceased her husband ma ny years ago there sur vive five sons charles stouftville ted dunbar ton bruce toronto roy company is zoned to accommodate an in stitution of this kind unanimous approval was received from stouftville planning board march 9 strict supervision although the hospital would be privately operated mr kennedy said that strict supervision would be maintained by the ontario department of health mr lafontaine operates a similar cen tre in sunderland in addition to a hospital in port hope and two nursing homes in pickering town ship the majority of children arc bed patients although some are confined to wheelchairs the project would employ an estimated 100 residents from the community and would pay full taxes it would be dependent on stouffville physi cians for medical service ficd that stouftville had mr kennedy said that if work could be started soon the building would be completed by early august mr kennedy said that he had received excellent cooperation from the chairman of the industrial committee mr c e hen dricks member walton todd and the clerk ralph corner he corner told a meeting of planning board thursday night mr corner said he had received a commu nication from the board indicating that a new- building would be required regardless of resi dential
