pick this week of the typical teenager staff photo ger stouffville she smiles and an entire room lights up her name is beth paisley an eighteen year old grade 13 student of sfouffville district high school shes the first in a selected series of photos and stories to be published ov the tribune depicting the life interests and aspirations of a typical teen ager beth has always lived in sfouffville the eldest daughter of mr and mrs bert paisley main street east she enjoys the company of three sisters jackie 17 marlene 14 dianne 8 and three brothers rick 20 ray 15 and donnie 4 although the completion of her grade 13 is her current goal beth is al- ready thinking beyond that accomplishment she hopes to enroll in university and acquire a ba degree beth a pretty blonde whose hair rolls down to her shoulders is an all- round girl interested in all phases of teenage life including sports studies and social activities as an athlete she captains the girls senior basketball team and was a member of the georgian bay league champions of two years ago she enjoys bowling dancing and plans to curl with the school league this win ter at rolling hills in 1965 she was head of the athletic council beth completes three hours of homework every night her best subjects are math and french although she passed all her christmas exams she readily admits that its the hardest year yet in grade 9 she was the form representa tive and this year was selected a prefect due to additional studies her social life is somewhat curtailed but she still finds time to attend the ha penny coffee house and on two occasions has visited the home of folk music in torontos yorkville district her favorite movie star is dean martin and recording artist ray coniff shes not fussy about the beatles but likes the monkeas the most recent singing rage she doesnt believe in students steady datir- rpth attends at the sfouffville unit ed church and for three years taught a sunday school class if eighteen year old beth paisley is typical of a typical teenager then sfouffville can be justly proud of its young people whafs happening at sdh s stouffville grad night will be held jan 27 and it is hoped that many people will come for an evening of entertain ment feb 9 and 10 are the dates released for drama night in which will be presented the shaw play arms and the man much work is being done on this play and it is hoped that it will draw as great an audience as the recent presentation of cin derella there is an iscf skating parly on jan 20 feb 6 is the date of the valentine dance tomorrow night jan 13 a basketball game followed by a sock hop will be held at the school the newspaper staff sold 5900 worth of creative writing publica tions another such publi cation is planned for the last term the yearbook staff needs your literary works of an poetry es says humorous writing particular emphasis is be ing placed on centennial the response from the student body regarding the yearbook has thus far been deplorable the science club began one of its first objects with the showing of two films on light and sound there is a chance that this year let us hope that such an sdhs may not have a embarrassing situation senior basketball team does not become a reality by dieter schnell stouffville the centennial year was suc cessfully ignited by the student council sponsor ed bonfire on new years eve the committee in charge of this project were amazed at the co operation given them and the tremendous response demonstrated by the pub lic as a representative of sfouffville youth randy mole was proud to have been part of this project rev a borland led the gathering in prayer mr lome boadway as stouff- ville centennial commit tee chairman outlined some coming events and the ways in which the pub lic could make centennial year stouffvilles proudest achievement mr james mackellar outlined some of the town councils pro jects randy mole student council president then thanked all the students who under alan lee or ganized this event wc would also like to thank the fire department and mr lehman for their as sistance it was obvious from the turnout at the bonfire that many people are interested in centennial and i am sure that ideas from the public will be appreciated bv the town committee likewise the sdhs cen tennial committee would appreciate student help in organizing an club has been one of the most active organizations in the school since september we have been constantly working on music for one performance or another we sang at commence ment exercises in october and the remembrance day assembly in november de cember brought our an nual show 2 plus 2 equals 5 which returned double the amount of money that the student council do nated an unbelievable amount of work went into that show and all the mu sic was learned in the week interval between christmas exams and show day the scenery was com pleted in four days also in december we sang at the christmas meeting of the united church cou ples club and at the christmas assembly on boxing day a number of glee club members sang at the parkview home looking forward into 1967 we will sing at a school assembly commem orating thebirthday of sir john a macdonald with the profits from 2 plus 2 equals five we will be planning a number of trips to musical plays or con certs at okeefe we also plan to sing at district churches during easter certainly not too much is lacking in the way of school spirit as far as the glee club is concerned hapenny anniversary stouffville dur ing the christmas holi days the hapenny coffee house in the anglican church celebrated its first anniversary with a special program despite terrible weather at least 85 people many of them adults spon sors and invited guests at tended performers were once again vikki taylor and her harmonicist man fred and a surprise bonus in talented doug brown the hapenny coffee house was started one year ago as an aypa project through the ef forts of sandra swash and aypa supporters in that time despite the first shock from the public there has not been one complaint and it is obvi ous that this organization has provided a respectable form of entertainment and a function in which a mi nority of stouffville youth have shown responsibility and active participation this was by far the best coffee house of the year the entertainment and the quiet atmosphere has nev er been better highlights of vikkis performance was her own talking birth control blues and she again de lighted us with mr tam bourine man and the circle game doug brown who is one of torontos most talented folk singers outdylaned dylan himself in just like a woman and brought a highly individu alistic approach to some of our popular songs the
