dealers looking for big year in 66 local implement dealer in stoufiville pickering oxbridge markham anc whitchurch township srt looking forward to a record sales year in 1966 this pas twelve months have seen several record tractor sales pushed on by a horsepower race among manufacturers two reasons are given for the heavy increase farmers are finding it increasingly difficult to hire help and they are overcoming their labor shortage by buying bigger machines a second reason is the fact that single farms are growing larger and farmers need bigger machines to handle the extra work sales of tractors for 1965 are just being tabulated but the estimate is s105 million for this year this is one third of the total sales of all farm equipment these total sales have reached 340 million in a good trend the number of dollars passing through a farm business is increasing all the time costs are chan ging output gets bigger tax es are in the nlcture too along with pension plans and workmans compensa tion while a conglomeration of scraps of paper under the clock or in an old teapot may have been alright at one time its a horse and buggy approach in 1963 ac counts have to be organized a little if they are to be of any use to a good manager the account book available from the department of ag riculture is new this year its set up to be more usetul for making income tax re turns depreciation for ex ample has been changed to agree with the income tax forms capital expenses have been separated out too so that with the new book almost no juggling of fig ures is needed another change is that different parts of a business are separated out better its still a tricky job to appor tion overhead labour and feed costs to different kinds of livestock but at least the new book makes an attempt at it this helps in manage ment with these changes rec ord keeping is a little more difficult however with a moderate amount of time on it i think anyone can sooi understand the system and from then on its just a me- watch night service held at green river the happy hour and ambassadors will hold their regular meeting in the sun day school room on satur day january 8th at 130 1700 farmers in the province have provided this benefit in the past but pro tection is now extended to include all farmers provid ing they employ full or part time help the same protection will be available on a voluntary basis to fanners not employ ing help application may be made to the workmens compensation board for co verage for themselves and their wives who are consid ered partners under the workmens compensation act in announcing the new re gulations which are com pulsory on the first of the year the honourable wil liam stewart minister of agriculture and the hon ourable h leslie
