saunders st law rence generating station in cornwall this huge dam spans the st lawrence river and is owned jointly by canada and the united states that evening we visited the farm of lloyd and ronald mcrae at bains- ville in glengarry county their herd of fio or more holsteins were yielding an average close to 15000 lbs of 39- butterfat milk they attributed this to the feeding of a high energy ration as well as to selective breeding later that evening we arrived at the queens hotel in montreal on tuesday aug 17th we were taken on a conducied tour of montreal city during the tour we visited the site of expo 67 the worlds fair which is to he held in canada on this site in 1967 work is be ing done 24 hours a day on this site it is interesting to note that one of the islands on which many countries will be repre sented is entirely manmade that evening we checked in at helens motel just outsire que bec city and later we visited the very beautiful st anne de beaupre catholic shrine on wednesday aug i8th we were taken on a conducted tour of quebec city visiting the que bec city parliament buildings the oldest church in quebec city and many other interesting places we walked up what is called the narrowest street in north america located in a very poor shun area of quebec city here the little french canadian children sang to us as we walked up the street and in return they asked for money on thursday aug 19th we left quehec city and travelled via the south shore routes to st ilyacinthe it was interesting to note along the way the small frenchcanadian farms and the small but very well caredfor buildings that morn ing we toured the agricultural institute of technology at st ilyacinthe and some of the as pects of farming in quebec were explained to us by mr g luchien the assistant farm manager in the afternoon we visited macdonald college at ste anne de beilevtie arriving laler that evening at the lord elgin hotel on laurier avenue in ottawa on friday aug 20th we loured the parliament buildings in otlawa and the walchod the very beautiful and impressive changing of the guard on the that evening we viisted the central canada exhibition in ottawa and attended the grand stand show at the exhibition featuring mr boh hope on saturday aug 21st we left ottawa and travelled via highway 7 towards peterbo rough at peterborough we met mr bill broadworth as sistant agricultural representa tive peterborough county and the president of the peterbo rough junior farmers at the memorial centre later the bus arrived at whit by and here allan and myself regretfully said goodbye to many good friends and fellow junior farmers we had grown to know so well within the week both allan and myself wish lo say a special thank you to all those who marie it possible for us
