sunday chickenpox is abroad in the neighbourhood and the flu bug is attacking whole families for a day or two at a time last sun day the hooper family was stricken mr and mrs charles hooper joan and george hoop er and their children but it was christmas sunday the jun ior choir sang at church and joan was there to lead them sick as she was mrs russell tooley returned recently from a visit with buffalo recently attending a shrincrs gathering there were seasons greetings from white horse yukon in the mail last week mr and mrs d e mcallister who were the rodicks guests for much of last winter are staying in the land of the midnight sun this year while they were in the cast they visited relatives and old friends and mr mcallister did a remarkable job of public rela tions for the yukon as well he gave talks and showed slides at 55 gatherings visiting service clubs lodges schools and church groups he also handed out liter ature at the world ploughing match the royal winter fair and the sportmans show where he talked with many people about the land of his adoption last summer he spent some time at the tourist information booth in whitehorse and met many interesting visitors to the north wi tarty honours members there was a christmas party with a difference for wi mem ber at buttonville wi hall re cently when mrs jean cook and her work committee enter tained the hard working social committee it was also a time to pay spe cial tribute to the secretary of the group mrs james rodick for her faithful service and it was the occasion for presenting mrs aubrey stephenson and mrs adam brown with life memberships to commemorate 25 years of active participation the hall was decked for the occasion with evergreen and christmas lights and a delicious buffet supper was served mrs s j english played carols and accompanied mrs stephenson in a solo there was a prize foryne holder of a lucky chair and cup and there was court whist mrs russell boy- ington made the presentation speech for the lifemembcrships to mrs stephenson and mrs brown while mrs cook and mrs rodick did the honours hater in the evening mrs charles hooper a buttonville wi member and 1965 president of east york
