signature of the ontario minor hockey association the bulletin reads thusly and rates the attention of all sportsmen interested in minor hockey the hockey world witnessed a sad spectacle saturday dec 7 1963 the toronto maple leafs and chicago black hawks displayed the worst kind of hockey if you can call it that with three minutes to go in the third period marring what was otherwise a good hockey game we cannot blame the refer ees entirely for what happened we do however feel that the players displayed a complete lack of discipline the rival coaches did not have control over their players the donny- brook thaterrupted was the re sult of two players continuing a feud that started a week pre vious the national hockey league did not improve their image as leaders nor the hockey players their status as the worlds best players as a result of their con duct the ontario minor hockey association for years has tried to instil in minor hockey players across the province the ideal of clean hockey sportsmanlike hockey and to develop rug ged hockey players but players who while wanting to win did so on the ice playing rules of the game and conducting them selves as gentlemen we issue this warning do not emulate the roughhouse tactics you see on tv displayed by professional teams or- for that matter displayed by onta rio hockey association teams from time to time we have clamped down on rough hockey and we will con tinue to do so game report cards will be carefully screened and players who wind up in the penalty box too often will find themselves under suspension for as many games as we think meets the need we know that sponsors managers coaches and players alike want clean hockey man agers and coaches can help reach this goal by exercising control over their players play ers can be great players by fol lowing the rules of the game and displaying good sportsman ship at all times we do not enjoy issuing suspensions but we will in order not only to protect the players but to keep hockey the great game that it is clarke scores seven points in bantam win doug clark currently enjoy ing a good year with the stouff ville bantam allstars col lected a total of 7 scoringpoints on
