horticultural society accompanied by their wives and husbands spent a very enjoy able evening as guest of mr and mrs howard barkey at their home a buffet supper was served with moose as the main dish followed by an evening of crokinolc a business meeting set up plans for 1963 and mem bership was recorded at 209 during the past year the directors held twelve meetings at homes throughout the town community projects sponsor ed by the society included a s50 donation to the stouffville com munity centre board for the purchase of trees to be planted in the parkette at westlawn cresc the grass plot held in june mrs h cossey was the judge during the eve ning a screen trip to italy spain switzerland and england was shown by elwood walker the july flower show was judg ed by mrs russell jarvis and mrs walters of markham local scenery around clare- mont on coloured slides was shown by mr and mrs edgie pcgg the large summer flower show was held on aug 22nd with the judge mr gerald cowan of the pickering horti cultural society there were 235 entries another flower show was held in september with miss eva hoover officiating coloured slides were shown by mrs eldon comfort of mark ham that depicted her stay in tanganyika east africa mums were predominant at the october flower show and they were judged by miss hoover the feature of the eve ning was an illustrated talk given by miss
