department advised a full meeting of york county coun cil friday that the suggestion the county be allowed to form a planning area taking in the six southern municipalitites now in metro was not accept able to the minister he said that the department thought it would be unfair for metro to discontinue its association with the six which had existed for seven years the six municipal ities are stouffville markham markham township vaughan township and richmond hill he said however that it would be quite reasonable for the eight remaining municipal ities to form an area six other counties are now in the pro cess of setting up county plan ning board and he said he would like to see york included but this was a matter for the members to decide the meeting was called fri day as the result of a resolution forwarded by york county to the department some time ago requesting permission to form a new area including all fourteen municipalities since no answer had been received the special session was called to hear from the deputy minister most of the planning boards in the south part of the township were also represented but a number of the northern members do not have planning boards he pointed out that york county was the only area hav ing part of its territory under supervision of metro he said that during the past seven years metro had given consider able assistance to these munici palities without charge and so far as he knew none had asked to be withdrawn reeve joe dales stated he wasnt a planner but just a member who was afraid of a repetition by metro of taking over further area and leaving yorkcounty in a poor financial condition as was the case when bill 80 went through dr cumming stated no per son could be definite as to the future or what areas might be the first to be quickly develop ed he did not consider any present boundry as sacred they were serving at present but might serve better through future change he considered in ability to adjust was dangerous reeve sellars asked that in viewof metro having six muni cipalities would they not be prepared to take in the remaind- der mr cummings did not think this feasable reeve alma walker of mark ham requested to know if a county board was formed would each of the six now in metro have a representative on the board cumming replied yes reeve f perkins of rich mond hill requested to know in view of the above suggestion why only one member on metro for richmond hill markham township markham village and stouffville dr cumming said he would be pleased to see each have a representative but the control of expense had to be observed halfpasthin buttgnville order your tickets now see girls pageantry stage tnd pool presentations diving champs aqua maniacs comedians animal antics starting in the
