and future adjacent developments referring to a report pre pared by rutledge water wells ltd mr grant noted that the lesearch and the thirteen deep test holes drilled cost more than 15000 tests were made in the south east part of the village and can only be described as an unquali fied success chemically and bac- teriologically the water is pure the wells draw on an artesian aquifer which will allow as many as 300000 gallons of water per day to be drawn without harmful effect according to an independent hydrologists survey pumping of the central well will have very little effect on the villagers shallow wells the aquifer to be tapped is on the bed of an under ground stream and will not sig nificantly harm those with deep wells mr grant said that final plans have not been made with the council with regard to the financing nor the size of the system he suggested that the agreement with markham twp follow the lines of one which was made with the village of maple the maple water system cost 126000 in maple as in union ville the water serves the town and the subdivision l 578jnichts service station wfloi l- gasoline motor oil- greases in maple uie lot levy paid by the developer was fixed at 640 from this 300 was put into a pool to pay for schools the re maining 340 per lot helped to pay for the water system by building 255 houses the developing firm tallden invest ments or normaple develop ments ltd paid 90000 toward the water system it was over sized for the existing require ments and the town issued debentures for the remaining 36000 this money was all recoverable the town leccived the water free and was able to drop the tax rate by several mills the following year varley village will be serviced by water and sewers at an esti- mted cost of 250000 to s325 coothe cost of these central systems will be apportioned over whatever number of lots are necessary the services which mr grant recommends would be suffici ently oversized that they would serve his subdivision the village and the areas designated in markham townships official plan for the next phases of development in unionville tallden offers to direct as mih of the lot levy as mark ham township deems necessary until these central water and sewage systems have been paid for on a 625 per lot lot levy the cost of these central systems would be immediately absorbed by the 392 lot development if however the allocation to cover the central systems is not so high tallden merely asks that they be allowed to recover their investment from or by future development in any case the installed systems will be handed over free to markham township as a valuable asset which will in crease the value of every prop erty in the town in these days of frozen food dinner time is when the
