development planned by tall den investments ltd the meet ing was called by a local four- man committee with a m hill a acting chairman mrs met calfe was nominated as i-rc- tary until the installation could be made of a permanent com mittee the chairman akcd for a clarification of the duties obli gations and constitution in forming a ratepayers associa tion he called upon donald dea con who then referred to the property owners association and asked mr wm champion to discuss its workings in fur ther detail mr champion as chairman of the property owners associa tion suggested that it be an educational type of association gearing its programme to hear and evaluate reports of the dif ferent parties and departments such as assessors builders and school boards that will be af fected he pointed out that the ad vantage of having all the facts by education makes such a group the true soundingboard of the community for such de velopment as the suggested var ley village mr champion cautioned how ever against such a group call ing itself ratepayers because it is associated with- trouble mr geo metcalfe moved that the group be called the union ville community association the boundaries were set that would be inclusive of the group being able to be represented within the association it was set at school area no 10 exten ding as far south as helen ave for the present don ment before june end- the meeting was given over to mr j s grant of tallden investments ltd grant com mended the ratepayers inter est and said that his company would welcome any construct ive suggestions he hastened to outline that in building the new subdivision they did not want to split unionville into the old and new but rather to enhance unionville this would be done grant said by building the sub division in keeping with the at mosphere and character already established here the subdivision has loft room for and includes a 324 acre school site adjacent to a 6acre park industry has also been provided for it is hoped mr giant said to attract pharma ceutical and medical lesearch organizations to locate in un ionville this industrial area would be surrounded by park land it looks at this moment as if there are three sides shaping up those with an interest in tall dens proposed subdivision those who wish to protect their own personal interests in land development and the public al ready living in this area ques tions raised were would the subdivision mean an increased tax burden to this mr grant replied not necessarily that would de pend in part upon whether or not unionville residents wished to connect to the services pro vided for the subdivision another question was would the water supply in any way endanger the wells of the resi dents mr grant answered veiy little to shallow wells and produced a hydrologers re port however no satisfactory answer was given by outright statement it was suggested a little trouble might be incurred unionville now has a chance to move forward it remains to be seen how the residents will take the proposal or if they will accept it at all the latest development in markinq devices magic markers 7c and 110 the
