representatives fronj rama and mara townships duncan macdonald and charles healy said that annual deerhunts weie held in their municipali ties and few problems had been reported mr macdonald said however that rama township had more buhland aiea than the southern townships chain of office for ont county warden suggested the wat den ot ontario coun ty mr earl dowswell may be the recipient of a new chain of office a new black gown or both depending in part on a recommendation to be put forth by the pioperty committee al though the county has been electing waidens for 10s yeais no holder of this office has ever worn a chain symbolic of the position the matter was dis cussed at some length last week deputyieeve walter holliday of east whitby township and reeve oivan chambers block township sparked the debate with a motion that the property committee consider a chain of office in prefeicnce to the robe warden earl dowswell now wears which said their motion has seen better days their motion called for the chain to bear the coat of arms or other seal of the 19 munici palities which make up the county and suggested it might be possible for each municipal ity to present such a plate for the chain reeve cyril morley then lais- ed a question for which few had an answer how many municipalities have a crest or coat of arms he asked i know of none for pickering village when other councillors failed to indicate there were ample seals or coats of arms reeve moiley suggested these might he a few blank plates in the wardens chain of office then theie arose the question of who was going to pay for this deputyreeve earl martyn of reach township suggested that now the assessment has all been equalized it would be fair if the county footed the bill estimated at 300 reeve everett quant i ill of whitby who noted that the county towns mayor had done without a chain of office until the opening of the new town hall two years ago suggested that the warden be issued a new black gown he said that the chain would look more dig- nified if it leposed on a gown instead of a business suit someone else suggested that the chain be withheld until the county opens its new building all these things will be con sidered by the property commit tee mission circle the mission ciicle will meet on the evening ot june 25th at 745 at the home of mr and mrs frank gostick topic
