decay is urged and supported by our federal and provincial governments by the constituted health au thorities of canada and the united states and bringing it closer to home by our own council and by every doctor and dentist practising in stouffville this column has been prepared to answer any question on fluoridation that the reader may wish to ask please submit any question or questions to box 27 the tribune 1 does fluoridation reduce tooth de cay in every area where there is at least 1 part per million of fluoride in the water supply tooth decay has been greatly reduced in fact up to 69 per cent less decay than the people of stouffville are presently suffering 2 is fluoridation costly the yearly cost to each person in stouffville would be about 23 cents per person whereas at present the average family in stouffville is spending over 2500 a year in dental care stouffville taxes will not go up one cent because of fluoridation and fluoridation can be installed at the present time without increasing the water rates 3 can fluoridation cause illness in older people no absolutely not the federal department of national health and welfare and many other rec ognized medical bodies have been conducting long and careful surveys for many years and their findings show that fluoridation can not harm anyone of any age do you think the canadian govern ment or your own doctor would recommend fluor idation if it could possibly harm anyone 4 will fluoridation make a difference to the taste smell or appearance of stouffville water fluoridation makes no difference whatsoever to the taste smell or appearance of water stouffville water does not have enough of this natural element at present and for reasons of better health fluoride should be replaced in the water 5 how many people now drink water containing the recommended amounts of fluoride one person in every three in the united states and more than one person in fifteen in canada stouffville committee for fluoridation
