meeting of vhit- i chinch township council and i planning board on wednesday night reeve cliff wallwork launched an outspoken attack on the new official township plan as just completed by proc tor redfern consultants reeve wallwork stated that he would like to know who is sued instructions for the sub mission of such a plan he said it tlid not contain any inforina- i tion lie didnt already know and i he thought it dead material and should have an obituary notice attached the plan as submitted is intended to cover planning in the municipality for the next ten years but according to the reeve it was ten years too late for events in whitchurch when i made enquiries about this plan i was told it was none of my business said mr wall- work he said however that since council was paying the account they should have some say in the matter the plan does not recommend the starting of any subdivision development in different sec tions of the municipality but does recommend thai the lake wilcox section be developed by locating industry in that area as it has water and labor is available as far as lake wilcox is con cerned said reeve wallwork there are parts of it should be uprooted by a bulldozer ive said it before and ill say it again the buildings are on small lots built for summer cot tages and now used the year round and theyre a constant trouble to the council development near urban centres the plan stated that points of development might be close to aurora newmarket richmond hill and stouffville as these points could offer services- which would not be available in the township without expense that was not warranted and if such services were to be supplied to one area such as ballantrae why not at vandorf ringwood pine orchard or other hamlets thats just an invitation to these larger places from the township come and take what you want whitchurch is will ing reeve wallwork who support ed the ballantrae area for de velopment said the industry there now was paying out over s300 a week in wages and was taking on more help its go ing to go ahead regardless of this plan and it wont be sub ject to annexation either said the reeve need more people in so far as building roads 86 ft wide as suggested reeve wallwork said he didnt think those submitting the plan knew j the difficulty of setting up a budget for the roads the town ship already had he said coun cil would be meeting shortly to discuss salary increases for the township staff if the township doesnt develop we cant grant these requests we have to have more people to help pay the bill if the services ate to te ex tended would resign this plan eliminates any de velopment of future subdivisions in the township and ill resign before ill sign it declared the reeve j e bousfield representing the consultants who prepare j the plan said that the job was i authorized by the planning bd from whom they took instrue- i lion he said that if mr wall- i work was not informed he couldnt complain of the lack of liaison as council had two mem bers sitting on the planning board mr bousfield said that there was always difficulty in starting a plan for an entire township but this was a start and he con sidered it a good coverage of the township in replying to mr wallworks charge that there was nothing new he said that everybody in the township was not so con versant with township affairs as the reeve subdivisions undeveloped mr bousfield said that he found that the subdivision now in existence still had threefifths of its lots undeveloped he said that about 40 homes were be ing built eacli year by persons who picked their own sites here and there in this connection lie thought they should be restrict ed as this indiscriminate build ing caused road problems they should be restricted to large homes he said reeve wallwork said that most bought ten acre lots and council was powerless to stop them mr bousfield said that there were ways by restricting the depth of a lot to not over four times the frontage mr bousfield stated that the right of a farmer to provide a building lot for a son was abused its surprising how many male heirs some of these farmers have raised he said other members of council made little or no comment on the plan nor did mr marsh chairman of the planning board members were asked to give the plan further study and be pre pared lo meet again headon crash
