and later were guests of joans par ents mr and mrs bourne of richmond hill a happy event for them was the birth of a baby boy to joans sister and her husband early monday mor ning mr and mrs tim paterson entertained the boadway fam ily on sunday and mr and mrs walton were guests at the home of their daughter doris and her husband mr and mrs jex of port credit mr and mrs baldwin were with mourned the i passing of one of its daughters i last wfek with the death of miss janet edith hood at river- dale hospital toronto miss hood was a daughter of the late mr and mrs william hood and a sister of mr doug las hood of buttonville mr gordon hood of wiliiamsville ny mrs irene atkinson of toronto and the late leslie a hood buttonville many in tins community will remember miss hood as their sunday school teacher at the browns corners church of later years miss hood has lived at 16 belsize dr toronto and was associated with a toronto church she also supported the canadian council of later bennett caught up to her in a truck and asked her to re turn she did not she said and finally when she was at a neigh bors home her mother arrived with bennett and coaxed her to return to the home she said that she did not discuss with her mother the reason for the threatened slap she told the court that ben nett came to the farm before her lathers death and worked the farm for twothirds of the crop mrs nighswanders grand daughter mrs eva m wilson said that she often visited her grandmother she recalled hear ing her mention the will made at buttons office but had been told that it was torn up and put in the waste paper basket grandmother 111 she also recalled the sauer kraut incident she said that the food made her sick too but her grandmother didnt say what had made her ill i dont think she knew she said charles bennett 69 told the court that he had come to the nighswander farm in the aut umn of 1941 after being invited by both mr and mrs nighswan der he told of the sharecrop agreement he told the court that he was unaware that he was to receive the farm until the will was read following her death he valued the farm at 10000 and added that there was a mortgage of 900 against it she was a nice old lady he said and easy to get along with she was partially crip pled he said and since 1947 he had fixed her hair each day he said that in later years he had done the cooking washed the dishes scrubbed the floors and even the laundry he said that he could not re member the slapping incident that mrs elson spoke of but he did remember the sauerkraut he said that it had been served on christnas day and he had taken ill in the afternoon noon the roads in the area were blocked with snow he said and he did not get out to see a doc tor until two days had passed he
