question of buying new school bus the purchase of a new 5200 bus to provide student transpor tation to the glasgow public school brought forth divided opinions at the annual meeting of ratepayers of ss no g ux- bridge on wednesday the issue was discussed before one of the largest public gatherings ever held in the section the trustee board was sub jected to some criticism for their initial purchase of a sec ondhand bus for the sum of 51000 a number of ratepayers suggested that the vehicle was well on its way to the scrap pile before the deal was com pleted and its continued opera tion only helped to line the pockets of several garage re pairmen board chairman ron ross explained that a 20 passenger bus could be purchased for s1700 he noted further that a bus to accommodate 36 succumbed five hours later in the york county hospital at newmarket her northbound vehicle was hit broadside and almost severed by the impact a passenger ernest ficht had to be pried loose from the wreckage by 1 c john mccague of markham township and p 0 kenneth sider of rich mond hill both ficht and a passenger in the turner car robt james osborne also of toronto died early thursday morning in hospital scene of chaos p c robt hadden of markham township was one of the first on the accident scene two ambulances were summoned from the buttonville station the collision completely cut off all traffic on the southbound lane and cars were soon lined for over one mile in both directions the slippery pavement worsened the situa tion and a number of vehicles slid off the highway into the ditch
