the highway coloured lights and those provided on the trees in front of each store however it is regrettable as always that we are plagued with smalltime thieves who each night remove some of the coloured lights from the mer chants trees we are told that the same petty thefts go on in markharn where similar trees are installed the police are en deavoring to keep a closer eye on the decorations with the hope of making an example of the culprits if they are caught choral group to aid orphans the hic group of the stouff viile united church will be car oling throughout the town on saturday evening dec 17 the group numbering between 30 and 40 young people will be ac cepting donations to aid orphan children in korea your atten tion and generosity will be ap preciated subdivision roads okd roads in the shields sub division a half mile east of the 4th con have been approved by the dept of highways it was announced by whitchurch twp council last week the taking over of the roads by the town ship has been a point of contro versy for two years the town ship will now look after the snowplowing turkey shoot the annual christmas turkey shoot conducted by the optimist club of keswick will be held in the keswick arena saturday dec 17th commencing at 1030 am ammunition will be sup plied for both shotgun and rifle hunters will have a chance to take home a nice plump turkey the optimist ladies will serve refreshments by popular de mand the shoot will again be held indoors weather condi tions will not spoil your days fun candlelighting ceremony the canadian girls in train ing extend jane easterbrook pro prietor of aunt janes coffee shop wellington st aurora and a resident there for the past 20 years passed away at newmarket hospital on nov 17 after a brief illness her funeral was held from aurora united church on saturday no vember 19 with rev john mor ris officiating pd interment was in stouffviile cemetery mrs easterbrook was born in stouffviile and is survived by her mother mrs harvey baker who has made her home with her daughter in aurora for many years also surviving to mourn her loss are a son lynn of brockville who graduated as a chemical engineer from toronto university and by two daughters mrs r freure sal ly who is a graduate nurse and diana who worked with her mother in the shop also mourning her loss are her sisters lillian mrs gordon bunt of aurora
