god psalm 1 romans 12 golden text and be not conformed to this world but bo ye transformed by the re newing of your mind that ye may prove what is tliat good and acceptable and perfect will of god romans 122 the lesson as a whole in our last lesson we were considering our great need for god and his perfect willing ness and ability to meet that need today we will consider our response to all this his perfect provision should awaken in us a responsive atti tude if he has providtd safe guards for our welfare we should lay hold of them if he has spread the table we should partake of the food with grate ful hearts if he has surrounded us with innumerable mercies then we should present to him our whole persons in fullest dedication the blessed man of the first psalm is our example primar ily of course this description perfectly fits the man christ jesus he alone fills the pic ture in its completeness but as tht great pioneer he has mark ed out the path for our feet and because of the implantation of his own nature and the in dwelling of his empowering spirit we too may become the blessed and fruitful men our lives instead of being conform ed or deformed will be trans formed and will be radiant with his own wonderful joy the heart of the lesson it is the supreme desire of our gracious god that his chil dren should enjoy the very highest of his blessing he would have us like planted cul tivated trees joyously produc ing for both him and our fel low men obviously such a life can be enjoyed only as it is lived in full obedience this involves true heartseparation from all known forms of evil and a daily medi tation upon and delight in his word it also involves the yield ing of our bodies to him eve in eden misused her bo dy she misued her ears in listening to the wrong voice her eyes in looking at the wrong object her feet in approaching the forbidden fruit her hands in taking it and her mouth in eating it thus she yielded her members to disobedience the results were disastrous but we are commanded to yield all of our members to god and to righteousness in this way only shall we glorify him and thus respond to his over flowing grace toward us al though this may involve self- denial and suffering yet it is really the life that wins bleed ing and blessing seem to go to gether the one who loses his life for his sake and the gospel really finds it ml pisgah
