ladies from altona were guests at mrs ellis mel tons home the occasion being a shower for bridetobe miss green river sorry to hear that gordon lehman son of mrs l lehman was taken to the hospital for sick children his many friends hope he will soon be feeling much better mrs c pcstill has been stay ing at the home of her daughter mrs d haines of toronto this past week no doubt she will be well acquainted with her lit tle granddaughter by now a very enjoyable time was had at the home of linda and marie pegg on saturday last when a farewell party was held for wendy and ann woods as they leave with their parents for their new home at fenelon falls after a happy time of games etc a lunch was served by mrs l pegg and the child ren were presented with a cro quet set by the pupils of the school best wishes go with mr and mrs g woods and family as they leave for their home at fenelon falls mrs d shank spent a few- days in toronto this past week on saturday evening a sur prise party was held for mr and mrs w woolhead at their home in honor of their fifteenth wed ding anniversary a number of guests were present including mr and mrs r hamilton we welcome to our midst miss joan smetham of england who has come to make her home here with her aunt and uncle mr and mrs w smetham the ladies aid met at the home of mrs l roberts on wednesday evening last and mrs m draper was in charge of the 26 in the church here full particu lars later the home school associa- tion are holding their next regu lar meeting at the school on thursday may 26th at 8 pm as there is much to discuss and arrange for the coming fun fair it is hoped that all members will be present and also a most cordial invitation is extended to anyone else in the community who would care to become a member some of the quilt the june meeting will also be held at the church mr and mrs c minaker of markham were visitors with his parents recently mr and mrs e lageer and amy of stouffville visited at the stanley byers home one day last week mr and mrs l ham of oshawa were also call ers last sunday mr and mrs fred disney of brooklin had last sunday dinner with mr and mrs ross disney mr and mrs p silcox and louis of lome park were visi tors witli mr and mrs m pegg last sunday afternoon and also with mr and mrs a morden mr and mrs joe pegg of osh awa visited with his parents on sunday afternoon mr and mrs percy clarke entertained their family on fa mily day the salem cemetery board met thursday night to make plans for decoration sunday on june 26th the afternoon and evening was wish to thank all those who so kindly contributed to the success of the auction and rummage sale of may 7th held at the church and mr norman faulkner auctioneer who so kindly contributed his time and made the auction a success in
