first pub lic skating rink was erected the spacious building was er ected by the late r j daley and stood on the site of the present post office building at a decision to evacuate the corner building for skating and curling was necessitated by the growth of the market which was gradually absorbing the en tire space in the new rink there was market and main streets ie headquarters for the band also building served as a public hall on the main floor arul a curling and skating rink in the base ment the farmers insrket also made use of the rink area in 1895 the same mr daley decided to erect a new
