zlon baseball team on defeating mactier on saturday for the second time mr and mrs morgan hill of altona visited sunday with mr and mrs cecil jones miss anna wilson commenced a three year course at ryerson school in toronto this week sunday school will be at 10 am and there will be no church service next sunday owing to anniversary services at kinsale the following sunday sept 27 will be the president mrs james cowie conducted the business eileen guthrie and marie smith gave reports of the school for leaders arranged by the wms at the ladles college whitby which they at tended in august mrs geoff astley and miss ruth mitchell sang a duet mrs bert guthrie conducted the worship service assisted by mrs bill guthrie who read the scripture and jeannette astley who gave a prayer anne guth rie read a poem the roll call was fellowship the ladies served refreshments the club had ideal weather on saturday evening for the corn roast which was held on the lawn of bert and mrs guthrie there were about eighty adults greenwood a social evening of a sing song led by allan clark and contests by miss b mclean was held last thursday night in the sunday school room mr and mrs joe pegg were presented with a chair and coffee table from the community and a pen and pencil set from the sunday school joe replied in his usual manner and thanked everyone for these lovely gifts mr and mrs doug morden and children visited recently with lome and mrs slute at raglan mr and mrs art smith of thornhlll were visitors at the fred byers home last sunday afternoon rally day was observed last sunday the 13th with a com bined service of the sunday school and church at 1130 this coming sunday the 20th there will be no- church service on account of anniversary serv ices at kinsale but there will be sunday school at 10 oclock remember the afternoon w- a bazaar this saturday after noon the 19th commencing at 3 oclock mrs l f richardson of whitby will open the bazaar and tea everyone will be made welcome the afternoon wa held their september meeting at the home of mrs wm brown with twelve members present group 2 had charge of the worship and the roll call was harvest re sponded to by all plans were made for the bazaar on the 19th the board of stewards held a meeting in the church on monday night we are sorry to lose mr and mrs dennis owen who moved recently to whitby mrs l wilson and children visited with her sister mrs knowlton at rr 2 oshawa last thursday afternoon doug and mrs morden have moved into their newlybuilt house a couple of weeks ago and bob maxwells have moved to the mrs rankin house the evening wa met at the home of mrs geo moore last wednesday night with a good attendance mr and mrs joe pegg mr and mrs lambert and mr and mrs ted hall were visitors at the milton pegg home last sun day conduct the evening service the cherrywood wa will hold their regular monthly mee ting in the church on wednes day september 23 at 2 pm there will be visiting societies also a guest speaker mrs stur- gess a returned missionary there will also be a sale of bak ing mr and mrs geo todd attend ed the wardens picnic on tues day at lake couchichlng sympathy of the community is extended to mr and mrs n laughlin and emma in the death of mrs laughllns father the late mr silas tool mrs geo todd and mrs d milne attended the presidents meeting at ashworth on friday a
