hollinrake at newmarket court on monday afternoon when the youth appeared on a careless driving charge he pleaded not guilty magistrate hollinrake stated that he would adjourn sentence until oct 26th when he would take into consid eration boyds progress at the buttonville school the defend ant was represented by solicitor w a parsons of stouffville stouffville police chief frank edwards testified that boyd had driven his car along main street on august 17th in a very erratic manner he charged that the accused had on three occasions swerved his car across the high way onto the left lane once breaking the solid white line the chief said he had followed the boyd auto for onehalf mile before stopping it near the hos pital chief edwards said that when he questioned the driver on his actions he replied i have no excuse i dont know what made me do it the chief said he believed boyd lacked adequate driving experience taking the stand boyd denied that he had turned his car onto main street from church st- he said that he had come from a ball game and drove up park street south he said that he had attempted to pass another car driven by donald eddington of stouffville but had only cross ed the broken line to get a view of oncoming traffic he denied his car had crossed the sol id centre line solicitor parsons suggested that the case be dismissed he pointed out that the defendant had not broken the speed limit and no persons or property had been endangered magistrate hollinrake con tended that policeare required and expected to lay charges if traffic laws are violated he pointed
