stouffville hydro moves ahead over 35 years stouffville hydro electric has grown tremendously during the past thirtyfive years the early beginning pi hydro power in town was a privately owned plant stemming irom engines which were userf to operate the planing mill this first hydro power was used in stouffville in the early ijxios the stree fixtures at that time what there were of them were car bon light in the 1920s electric current wus supplied in town from a privately owned plant operated in the building now known as the walter smith welding plant sam george was the operator of the firt
